Man Arrested in Jonesboro for Rape and Assault After Domestic Dispute

JONESBORO, Ark. – A Jonesboro man has been arrested following accusations of rape and assault during a domestic dispute involving a woman’s phone.

Craighead County District Court Judge David Boling determined there was probable cause on Wednesday, Jan. 8, to formally charge Carlton Sampon Davis, 35, with multiple felonies, including rape, aggravated assault on a family or household member, third-degree domestic battering, and second-degree criminal mischief.

According to the police affidavit, officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Loberg Lane on Dec. 5, 2024. Upon arrival, the victim told authorities that Davis had assaulted her.

The victim explained that she had opened the door expecting a friend, but Davis entered instead. While she was preparing to leave her home, Davis took her phone, accusing her of communicating with other men.

The affidavit details that when the victim tried to retrieve her phone, Davis grabbed her by the throat and slammed her onto a bed, temporarily cutting off her ability to breathe.

The altercation escalated outside when Davis fled with the phone. The victim said they later re-entered the home, where Davis pushed her onto a couch and sexually assaulted her.

As Davis left the residence, the victim followed him outside in an attempt to recover her phone. Davis allegedly pushed her into a ditch before eventually returning the phone and leaving the scene.

The affidavit also noted that the victim sustained bruises, scratches, and property damage, including a broken laundry room door and a damaged hand railing on her stairs.

A warrant for Davis’ arrest was issued on Jan. 2. Davis surrendered himself at the Craighead County Detention Center on Jan. 5 and was released on Jan. 8 after posting a $10,000 bond.

During his court appearance, Judge Boling ordered Davis to have no contact with the victim. Davis is scheduled to appear in court again on Friday, Feb. 28.
